AUTOart 87328 1:18 Lotus 72E F1 1973 #1 Emerson Fittipaldi w/ Driver Figure
AUTOart 1/18 scale composite model.
The famous Lotus 72 was an F1 car designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe for Team Lotus.
It made its debut at the 1970 Spanish GP, winning a total of 20 race wins and three constructors' championships.
The car was fitted with a Ford Cosworth DFV 3-liter V8 engine mounted longitudinally in the mid-aluminum monocoque chassis.
It had an innovative design, with an aerodynamically advantageous wedge-shaped body that placed the radiator inside the left and right sidepods, instead of the front-mounted radiator that had been the norm until then, as well as torsion bars for the suspension and inboard brakes.
From the 1973 Spanish GP, the updated 72E was introduced to comply with changes to regulations.
Ronnie Peterson, who joined Lotus that year, won four races, while Emerson Fittipaldi, who had been crowned the youngest world champion at the time the previous year, won three races. Although Team Lotus narrowly missed out on the Drivers' title, they won the Constructors' Championship in 1973.
The helmet coloring and other details have been faithfully recreated, and a driver figure of Emerson Fittipaldi is included in the model.
